It can all be a little overwhelming, the city may not be huge but the culture, activities, events, eateries etc. is vast. So we have taken it upon ourselves to amalgamate our local 12 years experience in the city via our blog. Whether you are planning on coming over for the festivals, want to find out vegan eats or general insider information, we will keep you in the loop.
Cup&Cake Barcelona: cupcakes with a little something special
Enric Granados, 145
There is something to be said about cupcakes, most commonly associated with New Yorkers, after the famous sitcom Sex and the City glamorized Bleecker Street’s Magnolia’s Bakery. Then there is London, which hosts the ever so popular Hummingbird bakery and for those that might not know, Barcelona has its very own haunt for cupcake junkies in the name of Cup and Cake Barcelona. Here at DestinationBCN we consider this little haven to be a cute place with that something special.
This eatery carries a thematic retro vibe; with its SMEG refrigerator, vivid colors, old meets new interior and contemporary lighting fixtures – welcoming you in to a stylish yet comfortable space to relax with friends/family. Elaborate icing; bright colors and sprinkles of ingredients such as chocolate flakes decorate the counters ensuring that passers by look in. It is also worth noting that all cakes are baked on site and avoid all additives.
The variety of cupcakes available includes the popular red velvet, walnut and cinnamon apple, carrot cake, chocolate, banana, vanilla, coco and cappuccino. Fresh and seasonal ingredients are used, so from time to time you can find a creative mix of flavors in their’ pretty cupcakes.
The ‘chic boutique’ attracts a diverse range of people such as – families, young couples, groups of friends, solo business people and more, all with a sweet tooth in common. A brunch menu was recently added so it also makes a perfect spot for a savory bite to eat too. Cup and Cake Barcelona currently has two establishments, however, our favorite is the little gem tucked away on Enric Granados, 145. From the outside you can see the sense of charm, with distressed wood, cute fittings and table arrangements.
With one of the bakery’s (take away only) based on c/Tallers 79 near our central apartments like that of Urgell and Principal, it’s worthwhile visiting and divulging in to a delicious cupcake.
