Grand opening: new Apple Store in Barcelona
Tomorrow sees the inauguration of the highly anticipated new Apple store in Plaça de Catalunya, Barcelona. The building that Apple will occupy, based on Passeig de Gracia, was formerly the headquarters of illegal communist organization Partit Socialista Unificat de Catalunya during the Spanish Civil War in the 1930’s.
Based on the same street as two of Antoni Gaudi’s famous buildings Casa Batlló and Casa Milá, the logo on the signage prior to opening gives a nod to the mosaic style that resonates with Barcelona. Pitched to be “The biggest store in southern Europe and one of the largest in the world.” It is bound to be a key store to visit whilst in Barcelona.
