Eat in NYC style at Loft212

We recently had the pleasure of lunching at New York loft concept restaurant Loft212. Located on Calle Valencia 212 just near Enric Granados, it’s prime location can’t be faulted. Expect friendly and down to earth staff and owner Alberto Longan mingling and speaking to his diners. White brick walls, low lit setting and comfy distressed leader sofas set the scene at this new restaurant. The food here has been carefully sourced from farms north of Catalunya such as Valle de Cardener, making sure that the quality isn’t overlooked and that good produce is selected.
The patatas bravas are beautifully presented in cubic forms with the allioli filled inside, giving you an incredible sensation with the heat of the slightly spicy sauce invigorating your palter. It is a big contrast to the usual dipping of patatas in allioli (garlic styled mayonnaise) and an interesting spin on things. The tuna tataki is delicious, served with avocado and reasonably priced at 3,50 euros, it was an sure win on our table.
Traditional Catalan dish botifarra (Catalan sausage) is served interestingly, with the sausage de-skinned and deconstructed, almost minced with a drizzle of a caramelized onion sauce and accompanied with bread that was freshly baked in the restaurant itself. Boquerones (anchovies) in “loft style”of course, were cooked table side by young chef Longan, the owner’s son. This stylish yet family run business is ideal for pica pica and evening dining, with rumors of possible brunch menu and different options at lunch we expect to hear more from Loft212.
