Now it is not hard to notice that there has been somewhat of an influx in bakeries offering more than just a magdalena, we have already blogged about the infamous Cup&Cake and then there is Lolita Bakery amongst others here in the city. There has equally been a rise in baking at home with more people taking an interest and taking classes, offered by those such as Diary of a Cake Maker. So if like us, you have a sweet tooth and don’t mind getting elbow deep in harina (flour), you may want to visit the BCN&Cake  event taking place this weekend at Fira Barcelona.

The event will host a variety of shops, manufacturers, wholesalers and schools, so if you are interested in signing up to a school or want to network it is a great opportunity.  Visitors can also expect demonstrations or take part in courses (subject to advance booking) and  then there is of course the cake-covering and biscuit-decorating competitions.

Seeing as the Christmas lights were switched on yesterday it is a great time to source ideas for possible food gifts or to simply enjoy for yourself. A day pass is €5 and a two day pass is €7.50
