Gift Guide – Skateboarding treats at FTC
Christmas may have been and gone but we still have Three Kings Day and the fortunate ones are still on vacation, so our gift guide in Barcelona continues! We must admit that we have a sentimental value when it comes to the street Notariat. We once managed a lofty space on this very quaint street in Raval, that was just in front of the cute art and design store OpenHouse Gallery Barcelona. Times have changed and although things have come and gone, skateboarding is something that isn’t likely to leave the city anytime soon. FTC is the elegant niche store dedicated to skating and it’s prime location being just by MACBA, the space that attracts an abundance of thrill seekers and veterans, is sheer brilliance.
Set up by resident skater Julio Arnau and San Francisco’s legendary skater Lee Smith, the space is pretty impressive. With the first store opening in San Francisco In 1994 the first FTC store was born and went on to expand later with additions in Sacramento, Tokyo and now we have Barcelona.
At this store expect to find a selection of hardware needed for the sport of skateboarding in addition to street wear by brands such as Adidas, Lakai & Converse. Not a fan of the mass brands? Not to worry, as you can also purchase original FTC branded garments. A cool store to visit and ideal place to buy a gift if you know someone that is a skateboarding fan.
