It can all be a little overwhelming, the city may not be huge but the culture, activities, events, eateries etc. is vast. So we have taken it upon ourselves to amalgamate our local 12 years experience in the city via our blog. Whether you are planning on coming over for the festivals, want to find out vegan eats or general insider information, we will keep you in the loop.
Culinary concept EatWith in Barcelona
Fancy yourself as a good cook? Would love to entertain and get paid? Or perhaps you just love to eat out and meet different people. If so, we think you will be impressed with culinary concept EatWith, a dining experience that allows people to connect with the locals. So how does it work? Well it is all rather simple, you can either sign up to be a host and entertain your guests with your cooking skills or simply register as a guest, where you can select whose place you would like to eat in. Full information such as, menu, languages spoken and price are included so that you select which profiles suit your preferred taste.
We think this is a great initiative, let’s face it, Airbnb have already set the tone with the personal community marketplace vision – giving people the opportunity to host their properties. There is a definite trend of people opening their homes for certain gains, whether it is to make some money, meet new people or other factors. Other cities such as London have groups by neighborhood, where they follow popular cooking show Come Dine With Me – where a party of four take it in turns to cook a meal at their home, so this all seems to be a natural progression. Plus, you know that feeling when you go on holiday and you order the local dish, knowing that it is usually better cooked by a local? This helps squash that.
Now of course, there maybe some that exaggerate their actual cooking abilities, or perhaps they aren’t the best when it comes to entertaining, but this is all possible at restaurants and cafes isn’t it? We will be attending one of the dinners and will report back to let you know how it went.

I just found out about this service as well! I am signed up for a dinner and can’t wait – i’m not sure the host speaks english though But it should be fun and the menu looks amazing! What a great idea – the best food is always cooked by home chefs in my opinion!
