It can all be a little overwhelming, the city may not be huge but the culture, activities, events, eateries etc. is vast. So we have taken it upon ourselves to amalgamate our local 12 years experience in the city via our blog. Whether you are planning on coming over for the festivals, want to find out vegan eats or general insider information, we will keep you in the loop.
What to think, what to desire, what to do
CaixaForum presents a wonderful exhibition that encourages one to evaluate the uncertainty that many undergo in life in general. Whether it is inequality, pressure of conformity amongst other things, they are things that many can identify with. The exhibition is centered around a space and rather spread out, perhaps representing the concept of freedom and loos at the pivotal role art can play during this state of affairs.
Anish Kapoor’s pregnant wall, a very modernist structure, is a manipulation of a simple form within a space. You have to be standing at a profile to really see the form of the bump that is part of the white gallery wall itself.
One of the most engaging exhibits, the wall display at the back of the room, which features wishes on colorful ribbons and invites visitors to select a wish they would like to come true. This ranges from ´I wish to have many friends´ to ´I wish to remain curious´. There is something really personal and delightful about selecting a wish that resonates with you and then leaving the exhibition with it. Perhaps a sense of hope, power, comfort but regardless of what it is it would have triggered an emotion for some sort and this sums up the ethos of this exhibition.
