Travel Insider Interview – The Style Junkies
We had the pleasure of having a chat with Myrthe Strijbos the founder behind The Style Junkies, a luxury travel website with some serious WOW factor. To be honest, we have to fess up to a mild case of the green-eyed monster when it comes to Myrthe’s lifestyle, as she has the opportunity to travel the world and all in the name of work. This all of course makes for a great candidate to feature and question about the lowdowns on favorite haunts and experiences whilst globetrotting.
How did The Style Junkies come about?
I have been travelling for so many years and after seeing the most beautiful places on earth I wanted to share my unique experiences with other style junkies and global travellers. I was always helping my friends and family with planning their trips. It’s definitely a passion and dream project for me, something I have always wanted to do. The Style Junkies is a visual website full of images from the most amazing places to stay and eat, it’s very easy and, most importantly, very inspiring. Searching for the right holiday online can be an overwhelming and difficult task. If you are spending a lot of money, it better be right. As much as I love travel, I love helping other travellers and sharing my personal favourites in various destinations.
Where are you based?
We’re based in Amsterdam.
Where’s your favorite cafe?
What are your top tips for packing for a holiday?
When I travel to a tropical destination like Bali or the Maldives, I always pack my comfortable & colourful Havaianas, my Missoni bikini, plus my silk kaftans from my favorite kaftan designer Camilla Franks.
Best place to have a drink after work?
The bar downstairs at Lion Noir Restaurant in Amsterdam is the ultimate place for cocktails by the fireplace.
Where is the most inspiring place in Barcelona?
Park Güell with its amazing views of the city and Gaudi’s stunning masterpieces.
Favorite place for tapas?
La Oliva is my favorite tapas restaurant in Amsterdam. Here you can eat the most delicious tapas you can find in the city.
Where is the best place to beach?
I’m a big fan of beach clubs, like El Chiringuito in Ibiza and Nammos Beach Club in Bali, where you can relax on the beach in style. Maldives is the ideal laid back destination with its azure lagoons, white sandy beaches and swaying palm trees. It’s like paradise on earth.
Which destinations do you hope to explore this year?
Many countries in Africa, like Botswana, Zambia, South Africa and Tanzania. I’m a nature and wildlife lover and without a doubt Africa is the most beautiful continent in the world and a true natural wonder. I love the pure and personal lodges and camps in the middle of nowhere, where the time stands still.
If you are feeling inspired to travel and are planning a trip to Barcelona, we have boutique Barcelona apartments in central locations.
