Barcelona Blog

It can all be a little overwhelming, the city may not be huge but the culture, activities, events, eateries etc. is vast. So we have taken it upon ourselves to amalgamate our local 12 years experience in the city via our blog. Whether you are planning on coming over for the festivals, want to find out vegan eats or general insider information, we will keep you in the loop.

Barcelona Beaches – Sant Pol de Mar

Many assume that Barceloneta is the main beach to head to during the humid and hot days of the summer in Barcelona. Sure it is convenient, it isn’t called the city beach for nothing but there are many other beaches that aren’t too far away that you can visit and relax on whilst in the region. Don’t drive a car? not to worry, as in this series we will be exploring the beaches that are accessible via public transport, so no excuses about not venturing out a little.

Many of the people that we have interviewed such as Barcelona Wedding and The Treasures have all cited this beach as a little piece of heaven and we can see why. The town’s white houses are covering the hills by the Mediterranean, surrounding the 11th century church of Sant Pau making it look all so pretty. As the beach is wide it makes it more pleasurable for relaxing without your towel touching somebody else’s or having someone kick sand past your head, it happens. There are lot of places to eat, many of which serve up delicious food made from local produce.  The rocky coves make it a terrific spot for snorkeling and as the water is clear you will have a fantastic insight to what beautiful species and underwater plants lies beneath. If you want to unearth the archeological gems of the area, you can observe the remains of the Iberian-Roman town of El Farell and the Martina tower that surrounds Sant Pol. One of the most pleasant things about this beach is the luscious green countryside that envelopes it, a must for those wanting a nice beach escape away from it all.
