Metal Skin: Street Sculpture Exhibition in Barcelona
Barcelona Art galleries S.L
Travelling exhibition ‘Metal Skin: Street Sculpture (Piel de Metal, arte calle)’ is unlike many others that you may have seen. A culmination of five years of work by Spanish artist Julio Nieto, you will find some of the most elaborate sculptures all made from none other than, metal.
The exhibition is composed of eight large-scale, outdoor sculptures inspired by recurring dream themes, entitled: Viajero, ¿Y Alicia?, Enamorado de acero, Porqué me echaron del Cielo, Marea, Ícaro salvado, La Llamada and Coreografía.
The purpose of the project was to stimulate the imagination and communication of the general public of all ages and, as such, reinvent public spaces as the ideal setting to promote multicultural coexistence and dialogue among the local people. Carlos Brito accurately describes Nieto’s work “Iron or bronze, forged or sculpted, miniature or life size, the artist deftly evokes suggestion, invitation and discovery.” On until the 12th January 2014.
