Idò D.O. Balear – A Taste of the Balearic Islands
Ido DO Balear
Viladomat 43, Barcelona
If you have a soft spot for savory panadas, ensaïmadas (from Mallorca) and other goodies from the Balearic islands, you will be pleased to hear about new deli / cafe / bakery Idò D.O. Balear. Either grab a quick bite to take, take a seat inside or stock up on deli items for you to prepare delicious dishes at home. Set up by three women, Idò originated from the strong desire to bring back that element of grandma’s traditional cooking.
The combination of talents among the owners, graphic designer, publisher and architect resonates throughout the space, with the plywood beams, tiled floor, and general use of space. It is the simplicity balanced with strong aesthetics that gives the space a real presence in Sant Antoni. Even the logo has a lovely typography that makes you want to go to the blue sea of the Balearic islands. We quite like the benches at the front for you to relax and hear the hustle and bustle of the neighboring street, then there is of course the selection of sausages hanging behind the counter. We intend to go back for the tasty Mahón cheese ( from Menorca). Definitely worth visiting if you want a taste of the Balearic islands.
