L’Eggs – the perfect place for egg lovers

Eggs – we all know they are full of protein, are a key ingredient when it comes to a cooked breakfast and can be cooked in lots of different methods. Chicken eggs are the most popular, however you will find small gourmet quail eggs used in tapas dishes. It is interesting then, that Barcelona is now home to the first eggs restaurant L’Eggs, which is dedicated to a variety of dishes but mostly consisting of this dairy product. Why is it making a buzz? Well chef Paco Perez, famous for his avant-garde cooking style, is behind the concept.

Why eggs?
Following the success of our first restaurant specialising in signature burgers and Premium Gin Tonic, we got together with Executive Chef Paco Pérez for a brain storming session . We wanted another concept of specialisation that met the following requirements – it had to be inexpensive, due to the current economy of the country, it had to have enough content to develop and be innovative.

Seeing as your restaurant is based on eggs, we have to as – where do you get your eggs from?
We get them from a farm from Calaf, a small village near Cervera.

What would you recommend on the menu?
– Fried eggs with “espardenyes” and sausages.
– Egg on perigueaux sauce with foie and bacon.
– Omelette with cod fish and pil-pil sauce.
– Chicken wings with spicy sauce and pack choi.
– Iberian pork dewlap with teriyaki sauce

You are open breakfast, lunch, dinner and for aperitivo, do you ever sleep?
We are a large and great team and it allows us to be “almost always” opened…

The cocktails sound unique, what is L’Eggs signature cocktail?
As in the case of La Royale, we had to find the right combination drink, so we thought nothing better than a cocktail to pair with signature eggs. We met with the renowned mixologist Javier Caballero and the few doubts we had, disappeared immediately.
