Haggle away like a local at Encants market in Barcelona
If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty and are prepared to stifle through quite a crowd we recommend you head to charming flea market Encants Market, which has a vast amount of things for sale. The market relocated to the other side of Plaça de les Glòries in September 2013 and had an overhaul, with an impressive mirrored ceiling. Here you’ll find the regular market stalls that provide your daily needs and then there are the house clearance guys that sell the possessions from former homes. You have to put your barter hat on when it comes to these guys that overcharge hoping to make a quick win, simply go firm with your price and don’t pay asking price unless you seriously want the item and don’t think you can find it anywhere else.
There are no frills when it comes to Encants but you can find some true beauties, which is all part of the fun. Many vintage furniture store owners frequent the market to stock up on muebles and restore them into something magical to sell in store. Others simply like a project for their own homes and some come to stock up on smaller items like haberdashery. If you love antique and vintage items you can also find cameras, medals, badges and decoration. Enjoy!
